(non)roaming profiles

I am trying to set up samba (2.0.7) to act as a domain controller and
I want to use roaming profiles. The clients are logging onto the NT
domain, I have set
logon path = \\SERVER\profile\%U  and defined the 'netlogon' and
'profile' shares, which are visible under NN.

 Only trouble is, every time I connect to a win9x box(win98SE but we
use the whole family) it dumps my profile into the root of my home
folder, not even into ../home/profile. Anyone know why I'm being
ignored/ what I'm doing wrong?
