I would like my linux computer to use samba only on my high school's internal

I currently have my ethernet card set up to use a real IP address
(; I would like the computer to respond my
internal network, some 10 dot addresses.

Can you tell me why this does not work:

Open linuxconf and add the IP address, netmask in the "IP aliases for virtual hosts" section.

Then in Samba add this to my [global] options:
     interfaces =
     bind interfaces only = yes

This would allow me to see this computer in Network Neighborhood on a windows
95 computer, right?
