smbpasswd error: rejected the tconX on the IPC$ share

Does anyone have any ideas what would cause the
following error when user tries to change their
smb password?  The same error occurs when you use
SWAT also. But root does not have a problem changing
the passwords.

Has anyone seen this before, and what was the correction?
