My samba server (2.0.7, under Linux 2.0.36) has been going for a week
now and I am still fighting to get it to be seen on a different segment.
But that is not the reason I am writing today.

I checked my log files this morning and I found a bunch of lof files
from computers outside the college trying to browse (?) or worst yet
connect ot my samba installation. They all have aname such as
"log.nameofcomputer". I know they are not local machines. The server
Samba is installed on is on the internet (of course) and is not yet
behind a firewall. Is this a threat or just normal behavior?

I find it quite ironic that computers outside the college reach my
server and yet omputers inside can't even see it :-D.
