I am trying to check out the new automatic printer driver installation feature
in the alpha release of Samba 2.2.0 on
Solaris 8 but I am having some problems. When I try to add a printer from the
new Samba server on an NT client it produces an
error message "Could not connect to the printer. The printer name is invalid."
I am able to browse and connect to other shares with no problems, and I am able
to add the printer (with the same name) to a Win95
client with no problems
The printer name I am currently having a problem with is hp8100. The name was
originally hp8100dn_1, but I saw
a message from someone else saying they fixed the invalid printer name error by
removing underscores from their names.
This did not help me. This printer name is working fine on previous versions of
Samba.
Is this a known error, am I doing something wrong, or is this something that
will be fixed in the full release?
Sorry if this is not the right list for this message, could it be forwarded if
so...
Also sorry if this has been answered before, I have not been receiving the
mailing list lately.
Thanks for your time
-peter.
