According to the usenet this one ("tree connect failed: code 0")
almost always has to do something with a mismatch between an older
Linux kernel and a newer glibc. Well, this is clearly NOT your
problem. :-) But indeed it points to some mismatch between your system
and the Samba binary you installed.
I suggest you go and get yourself a fresh copy of the Samba sources
(2.0.7) and recompile/reinstall from scratch.

This might have to do with the above problem, but in most cases its
just your user is not in smbpasswd or has no password set there (you
will find more details in ENCRYPTION.txt).
