Hello Jay,

thanks for your answer.

The UNIX-Permissions are:

drwxrwxrwx   2 root       sys             96 Oct  5 15:13 FSA

After trying to open the folder in the Windows-Explorer there are the
following entries in the log-File:

[2000/11/02 16:03:49, 3] smbd/process.c:process_smb(618)
  Transaction 37 of length 67
[2000/11/02 16:03:49, 3] smbd/process.c:switch_message(448)
  switch message SMBtconX (pid 6590)
[2000/11/02 16:03:49, 2] lib/access.c:check_access(258)
  Allowed connection from pc-edv-p1.woehr.de (192.168.1.78)
[2000/11/02 16:03:49, 2] smbd/service.c:make_connection(284)
  Invalid username/password for fsa
[2000/11/02 16:03:49, 3] smbd/error.c:error_packet(138)
  error packet at line 164 cmd=117 (SMBtconX) eclass=2 ecode=2
[2000/11/02 16:03:49, 3] smbd/error.c:error_packet(143)
  error string = Bad file number

In the Explorer I get the message: Invalid user name or invalid password.

I also tried the "@" sign instead of "+" but that doesn't work too. The user
is in the correct group and the password is correct.

The security option in smb.conf is set to "USER".

Maybe I am missing something.

TIA

What's the Unix permissions on the share directory, and what
kind of errors/problems are you seeing exactly? Also, with
my distribution of Samba, "@" is the group token, not "+". -Jay

Hi there,

how can I create a share which provides access for several UNIX-groups ? I
tried the option "valid users" and entered "+group1, +group2" but it doesn't
work.

Here's the entry in smb.conf:

[FSA]
	path = /Dat/Gruppe/FSA
	valid users = +group1, +group2
	writeable = Yes
	guest ok = No
	only user = Yes

TIA
