Samba Hangs

Hi, I have been running a Samba File & Print box for about a year now,
and every few months, Samba seems to run slow. To fix this, I usually
just bring it down to init 1 then back up to init 3 or my fellow  IT
staff who are into Windoze just reboot the sys. Sometimes when they
reboot the sys, It hangs on filesys problems and I have to run e2fsck on
that filesys. Is there any sort of Cron job I can run to automatically
clean up the sys, so I will never have to bring it to run level 1 and
back up?
