SWAT and restart

OS: AIX 4.3.3 (All latest patches)
Samba: 2.0.7
Compiler: IBM C/C++ 3.6.6

Just a question about restarting smbd using swat. I use to set up a loop
to kill -9 all the ?mbd's and restart samba for changes to take effect.

I've noticed some strange behavior - especially with Office 2K Premium -
that if I have Word open and I restart samba through SWAT, Word dies and
displays a message about an I/O error 0xc00000c4.

I get other programs to die as well (NFS Maestro, etc), but without the
glamorous exit - just dead.

In addition to that, my H: drive now has a totally different content -
what used to be my /home/userid space now points to the root directory
(/).

I also have some wierd log entries, they don't look right to me...B:
