Strange error in log file

I am trying to fix a problem with browsing and while checking the log files
I found this segment:

[2000/03/14 13:09:44, 0] lib/util.c:matchname(1897)
  host name/name mismatch: birdie != birdie.hollisterwhitney.com
[2000/03/14 13:09:44, 0] lib/util_sock.c:client_name(1035)
  Matchname failed on birdie 10.10.10.3

Anybody know what causes this error message?
