writing text file to smbmounted share

In a perl script, I'm writing a text
file to a file mounted on my Linux box from an NT Server
machine, i.e.:

mount -t smbfs -o user=foo,password=bar

But I can't seem to get the CR/LF thing to sort - the
file has no returns in it when I look at it in NT.

Any ideas how to get Perl to write the right character?
