FW: Configuration trouble

I'm trying to install samba for the first time on my HP9000 K570 server
running HP/UX 10.20.  When I run #./configure, the last message I get is:
checking configure summary

ERROR: No locking available. Running Samba would be unsafe

configure: error: summary failure. Aborting config


What does this mean?  How do I proceed?  I downloaded samba-2.0.7 today from
the USA mirror site.
