difference between 1.9.18 and 2.0.3

The 2.0.x way is to add to smb.conf
map to guest = bad user

If you want full compatibility with 1.9.x you have o use
security = share
since that was the default of 1.9.x, whereas in 2.0.x the default is
security = user
