smbsh problem

 Hi all,
 
 
 I need help in getting my smbsh working....
 
 1. I have installed samba 2.0.7 on freebsd 3.2
 machine..
 
 2. i get following error on running smbsh
 
  'smbw: shared variables corrupt (Invalid argument)'
 
I am also having one more problem...
 3.'smbclient -L server -U user'  where 'server' is
winNT 4.0 m/c gives an "access denied" error..
