Connection denied for Win 3.11 client

Hi,

is password encryption an issue with Win 3.11 (WfWg)? In log.smb I get the 
following error for a Win 3.11 client:

[2000/02/29 13:55:58, 1] smbd/process.c:process_smb(558)
  Connection denied from IP-ADDRESS-OF-WFWG-CLIENT

Or I am missing something else? This is the first and only Win 3.11 client I've 
configured for use with Windows Networking and Samba. All other Win9X and WinNT 
boxes work fine. I use v. 2.0.0 under Solaris 2.6. As for subnets, WINS, NIS 
netgroups and all other relevant configurations they are identical to those of 
other Win9X and WinNT machines.
