protocol negotiation failed?

Hi,

I just installed RedHat 6.0 and samba-2.0.6. The compile and installation
look okay. I set password server to our NT server. Then, I test it by
running:

/usr/local/samba/bin/testparm

I got (home is the only service provided on this Linux system):

Processing section "[homes]"
Loaded services file OK.
Press enter to see a dump of your service definitions
...
[homes]
        comment = Home Directories
        read only = No

However, when I run smbclient, I got error:

 /usr/local/samba/bin/smbclient -L elyback
added interface ip=128.252.85.78 bcast=128.252.255.255 nmask=255.255.0.0
protocol negotiation failed

"elyback" is this RH 6.0 system. Can somebody tell me what "protocol
negotiation failed" means? How to fix it?

I appreciate all the help!

H. Li
