Hello Dieter,
Are you by any chance using wins? There was an issue with 2.0.6 where,
depending on how you had configured your smb.conf file with
interfaces, and bind only interfaces, that Samba would end up registering
the 127.0.0.1 ip address with wins instead of the ip address of the
interface you really intended. Check your wins database and see if that is
the case for you. If it is, 2.0.7 seems to resolve this problem.
Hope this helps,
Don

Subject: ping to server pings client

I have a strange problem on windows 98 SE:

when pinging to the sambaserver using the name, it is resolved to the local
machine, not
to the server, but I have both, c:\windows\hosts and c:\windows\lmhosts
with correct IP adresses. They seem to be ignored for that. The same wrong
resolution happens when calling the webserver.

Does anyone know the reason?

Best regards,

Dieter
