smbd needs one complete CPU

Hello listmembers,

I need to run samba 2.07 on a SUN E6500. The maschine has 8 CPUs. From a
remote maschine, a file is held open for more than 10 hours a day.
That's an unchangable fact.
The mess is that the samba daemon needs one CPU for itself and reduces
the whole system performance.

Is this normal? What can I do agains this? Does it make sense to use the
nice-function for this?
