root access to swat...

Hi all....

When you want to edit the smb.conf via swat....do you have to login 
as root...?
I'm asking because I get kinda of nervous when I have to enter
the root password through a web browser.......(not the browser on the server itself)
maybe I'll just edit the file manually?

What do you guys do in this case?
