Printer Login Error

To make sure you're logging into a domain do the following:

In 95 (I'm not running 98 on my desktop but it should be very similar) go to
the network neighborhood properties, select the identification tab and put
your domain name in the workgroup.

Select the configuration tab, select the client for microsoft networks
component properties, make sure 'log on to windows nt domain' is checked and
the domain name is correct.

You do need to be sure that samba is setup for this -- our samba server
smb.conf has the following entries:

    server string = ServerName
    workgroup = East
    os level = 65
    domain master = yes
    preferred master = yes
    local master = yes
    wins support = yes
    dns proxy = no

Where the domain is East and the os level is pumped up high enough to
override any NT servers.

I would also use smbpasswd to set and verify that jdamien has the same
password on both machines -- since this appears to be who you are trying to
log in as.

On one server here it asks me for the $IPC password (I'm not setup on that
server) -- I give it the root password and it lets me in (the smbusers file
contains my user name and equates me to root, and root is in the smbpasswd
file).
