samba-2.2.0-alpha1 under solaris 2.5.1

I am trying to compile samba-2.2.0-alpha1 under solaris 2.5.1
(x86 and sun4) but it's failing as follows:

    Using LIBS = -lsec -lgen -lsocket -lnsl  -ldl
    Compiling smbd/vfs.c
    smbd/vfs.c:316: macro `getwd' used with too many (2) args
    *** Error code 1
    make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `smbd/vfs.o'

I am using "gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)".
Has anyone enocountered the above and if so what is the solution?
