Strange password authentication problem.

I've got a strange problem that I hope someone has run across.

I'm running Samba 2.0.7 on Solaris 7 with AFS support compiled in. My
smb.conf file is included below.

I'm trying to map a drive from a Win98 box to the Samba server. I've
got PlainTextPassword set to 1 on the Win98 box.

When I attempt to map the drive, my password is sent to the Samba server
in all caps instead of the mixed case. Also, my password on the Samba
server is different than my password on the Win98 box, but the Win98 box
never asks me to enter a different password. After a pretty long delay,
itt just fails to map the drive giving me the following error message:
"This device does not exist on the network." I've tested it with having
the same password on both boxes and it can then map the same share
successfully.

Anyone have any ideas why it won't prompt me for a password?
