Empty Folders in solaris 2.6 and AFS

I've tried to compile samba2.05a on a solaris 2.6 box with AFS.
I'm having difficulty, however, with opening files in a home
directory.  All I come up with is a bunch of empty folders
when I try to open up a samba directory.  When I look at the
log files, I get something like:

get_lanman2_dir_entry:Couldn't stat [./rc] (No such file or directory)

I've also compiled samba 1.98 and it seems to work correctly on
my Win NT box... but for some reason the new version of samba
just doesn't work.
