How to get NT group membership via smbclient

Dear list members !

Has anyone explored an easy way to get the information, if a specified user
is in a certain NT group or not ...
Background to this question is that I've to implement a per user
authentication of a squid wwwproxy via NT groups ..
There is a solution btw (if you are interested look at
http://www.hacom.nl/~richard/software/smb_auth.html), but I think this one
is to time consuming for a larger group of users ...
