You probably need to read some more in the SAMBA Howto; ultimately
that's quicker than looking for answers to "newbie" questions here. 
(Yes, I am a comparative newbie also).

However, the first thing you might do is make sure the workgroup setting
in smb.conf matches the ones for your Win95 boxes.
