Hi,
I am running Samba 2.0.3 on Linux Kernel 2.2.5 (SuSE 6.1) in a test
environment with a Win NT server (PDC), the Linux box taking over step by
step the file- and printserver tasks, and Win 95 clients. Samba is setup
with security=domain at this stage.
It just happened again what I have seen only a few times before. When I use
Outlook 98 on the Win95 machine and want to access the "personal folder
file" (which lives on the Linux box), Outlooks hangs for a while (30 sec.,
see below).
The following SMB log entries I find in the log file:
[1999/05/30 22:39:53, 0] smbd/service.c:make_connection(320)
michael logged in as admin user (root privileges)
[1999/05/30 22:39:53, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection(488)
pc001 (192.168.0.11) connect to service data as user michael (uid=500,
gid=0) (pid 13974)
[1999/05/30 22:40:34, 0] smbd/oplock.c:oplock_break(742)
oplock_break: receive_smb timed out after 30 seconds.
oplock_break failed for file userdata/michael/michael.pst (dev = 303,
inode = 278691).
[1999/05/30 22:40:34, 0] smbd/oplock.c:oplock_break(812)
oplock_break: client failure in break - shutting down this smbd.
[1999/05/30 22:40:34, 1] smbd/service.c:close_cnum(514)
pc001 (0.0.0.0) closed connection to service data
[1999/05/30 22:40:34, 0] smbd/service.c:make_connection(320)
michael logged in as admin user (root privileges)
[1999/05/30 22:40:34, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection(488)
Hmm, I need a bit of help to understand what this oplock_break failed means
or where I will have to read about that?
Best regards,
Michael Doerner
