Thank you for your prompt response :)

I realized after I reread what I posted that I had not mentioned the
client OS I was using.  These tests (and failures) were experienced in my
test setup on a fresh Windows 95B, not Windows NT.  The client that was
experiencing these problems has a variety of Windows 95 flavors installed.

Sorry about the omission.  I hope you didn't waste any time down the wrong
path because of that.  Of course, I know nothing about the internals of
SMB, the Samba source, or glibc so maybe the client OS doesn't make a
difference in this case.  You mentioned NT though so I thought it prudent
to pass this info along.
