Long File Names in Windows 98

Hello,

When a samba connection is set up the client and server are supposed to
negotiate wether or not long file names can be handled by the client. I have
a windows-98 machine that appears to be in 8.3 mode rather than long file
name mode.

I do not have mangle file names enabled so any long file names simply
don't show up.

My question is how can I get windows 98 to negotiate properly for long file
names ?
