WINS lookups

Hi all,

does Samba provide any sort of command-line hooks into WINS? I ideally
need to replace our Microsoft-based DNS server on site at work with a
Linux solution, but the server needs to be able to somehow forward or
resolve queries via our on-site WINS server if the DNS query fails.
Using the linux box itself as both a WINS and DNS server is an option if
that makes life any easier...

sorry if this has been asked lots of times before; our web access is a
bit on the slow side today so I'm having problems searching for
documentation on this...  for all I know Samba provides such DNS/WINS
integration when set up correctly!!
