Using smbpasswd

I upped the debug level and now have some additional information...

from the log file...

[1999/05/07 17:29:40, 3] smbd/ipc.c:api_SamOEMChangePassword(1769)
  api_SamOEMChangePassword: Change password for <carey>
[1999/05/07 17:29:40, 0] smbd/chgpasswd.c:check_oem_password(698)
  check_oem_password: incorrect password length (2131323137).

Incorrect password length? I have tried passwords that were succesfull 
using the standard passwd command, yet will fail under smbpasswd.

Boy, this is frustrating!
