Samba and Command Software AntiVirus (F-Prot)

We run a lab of ~120 NT workstations.

We have a problem with samba when Command Softwares AntiVirus
is enabled for dynamic virus scanning of network drives.
Office files get corrupted and/or can be saved.

The client machines are all NT 4.0 sp4 with Office 97 sp2
The servers are solaris boxes running Samba 2.0.3

The problem can be seen by repeatedly modifying and saving a document
stored on a samba share. On the thirdish attempt an error dialog comes up stating
that the file can not be saved. (In use, access denied etc).

Locking is turned on. So is strict locking. OLE compatible locking is on.
What else should we look at?

With Network virus checking turned of the problem is not visible although we
do seem to be getting a number of complaints about corrupt documents.

With Network virus checking turned on the same operations to an NT 4.0sp4 server
share work fine.

Any suggestions would be welcome .
