newbie: where and how to use smbmount with 2.04b ?

Since I read you're now developing samba on rh60:
I have a problem doing the above (--with-smbmount) with
samba-2.0.4b-19990527.src.rpm and rh6.0 (kernel 2.2.6 or 2.2.9):

It's a problem related to something on my system or it's a problem with
smbmount itself?
Mike HW told me he'd have looked into it, but now I see that you are the
maintainer.
