Thanks to all that replied :

 Gerald W. Carter, Levent ...

 Actually, I'd already done what had been suggested ...

   socket address = 10.10.10.5
   interfaces = 10.10.10.5/24

 It appears to working now...

 I think my problems were two-fold :

 1. I made separate locks directories :

      /var/samba1/locks
      /var/samba2/locks

    and specified them in the smb1.conf & smb2.conf files via the "lock
directory=" option

 2. I had a "bind interfaces only = yes" option set, which I removed

This seems to have fixed everything

 Thanks to all.

I have a second question though ...

I'm using "security=domain" and it seems to work just fine... however,
the log file shows errors

 trust_password_lock: cannot open file
/apps/samba/private/SFWMD_HQ.CURLY.mac
 trust_password_lock: cannot open file
/apps/samba/private/SFWMD_HQ.MOE.mac

If I do the "smbpasswd -j sfwmd_hq -r b50apps1" I get the following
dialog :

cli_net_auth2: Error NT_STATUS_NO_TRUST_SAM_ACCOUNT
cli_nt_setup_creds: auth2 challenge failed
modify_trust_password: unable to setup the PDC credentials to machine
B50APPS1. Error was : NT_STATUS_NO_TRUST_SAM_ACCOUNT.
1999/06/09 16:38:49 : change_trust_account_password: Failed to change
password for domain SFWMD_HQ.
Unable to join domain SFWMD_HQ.

The NT admins say the samba server has an account....

Any thoughts ??

Thanks again

Mark
