Problems with usergroups

Hallo!
I am running Samba 2.0.2 using Linux 2.0.35.
I have users in several groups, one of that groups is "public", where all
users should be.
I have defined a share as follows:
path=/ln_daten/communication
comment=Kommunikation
valid users=@public
read only=no
As usual, I defined everything in that directory as 0x777 and belonging to
nobody and nogroup.
Sadly, as I log on to that source, everything belongs to root (group root)
and has 0x755 set! When I look at the samba-status using swat, I see a
user logged on, but it is recognized as he belongs to one other group!
How could I change that?
Ludwig
