Compiling on AIX3.2.5

I did see that in the archives but did not understand it. /usr/local/samba
and /usr/local/samba/bin are root:system drwxr-xr-x. I have never come
across what you suggest in 6 years with this machine. Or am I misunderstnading 
you?

BTW. A 2 year old version of samba works fine. It is just the upgrade
beyond 2.0 that is the problem.
