Smbd service name length

Hi,

A question. What is a maximum smbd service name length? 

I checked smbd.conf documentation and the only thing I have found
is a statement that smbd has no such limitation. 

A thing that puzzles me is that the maximum service name that 
I can use is of 12 characters length. I can see the services/shares
with longer names in the Windows Explorer but can't mount and/or 
access them. An error message looks something like:
  \\server\1234567890123456 is not accessible.
  The network name cannot be found.

I'm running smbd on an Solaris 2.6 machine, and using NT 4.0 SP3 
as a client.
