Its a mapped drive. It's the Win95 "D:" on that Linux machine at the
times its booted to Win95, and its mapped as D: to the remote PC.

Well, I can do that, but I don't think that is really the issue, since
everything works perfectly well with Samba 1.9.18p10 and earlier. Plus,
I have also tried doing things like setting myself as an "admin" user on
the share, using the "admin users=" directive on that share definition.
No dice. Since admin rights under Samba gives the admin user root
priveledges on the share, I can't see permissions as an issue.
Nevertheless, here goes:

[jim at vortex jim]$ ls -ld /dosd /dosd/*

I've thought of that, and might give it a whirl real quick. Stand by...

Okay, I'm back after about 15 minutes of testing. Guess what? You are
right. If I copy all those Netscape folders over to my home directory on
Linux, and connect that to the D: on the notebook PC, then Netscape
Communicator has no trouble reading its mail folders with Samba 2.0.0
running.

So it appears that for SOME reason, the mounted vfat partition is not
acting the same, permission-wise, under Samba 2.0.0 as 1.9.18p10. I'll
do some more debugging, and see what I can come up with....

Thanks for the pointer!
