win95 file sharing list of users

I am attempting to share a file on a w95 machine. This machine has to log on
to
the Samba server (on Linux) for authentication.

When I try to share the file the win95 machine returns a dialog box with a
empty list of users and one "Add" button.

When I click on the "Add" button it goes off and after a few seconds returns
with the message
"... to try later because the list of users is not available at this time."

What am I missing?


In the smb.conf I have the share declared as

[k15image]
path = \\k15\image
read only = yes
writeable = no
valid users = root
public = no
locking = no
