patch suggested for Solaris 7 cures samba2.0.5a/Sol2.6 hiccup

I installed and configured samba 2.0.5a on a rather unstable Sun box on
Thursday/Friday last week to link two NT cd writer machines to a filesystem
on the E4000. After a bit of wierdness regarding the usernames the NT
machines where offering to Samba, and some creative use of a username.map
file I got what they wanted set up. The users were happy and 5 minutes of
job satisfaction were achieved.

I came into work today and discovered that the E4000 had rebooted itself a
few times over the weekend and samba wasn't started. I started it manually,
and found in log.smb:

[1999/08/15 18:16:21, 1] smbd/files.c:(216)
file_init: Information only: requested 10000 open files, 1014 are
available.
[1999/08/15 18:20:17, 0] locking/shmem_sysv.c:(597)
ERROR: root did not create the semaphore
[1999/08/15 18:20:17, 0] locking/locking.c:(174)
ERROR: Failed to initialise share modes
[1999/08/15 18:20:18, 0] locking/shmem_sysv.c:(597)
ERROR: root did not create the semaphore
[1999/08/15 18:20:18, 0] locking/locking.c:(174)
ERROR: Failed to initialise share modes

Luckily I've been following this list for the past few weeks, and recalled
the recent Solaris7/HP-UX problems people have had. I applied the patch to
source/locking/shmem_sysv.c that Jeremy Allison has suggested for the other
problems, and, well, it works now.

I don't know what patches might have been applied to the machine since
Friday - it's up and down like a yo-yo thanks to what looks like a
disagreement with some fibrechannel discs. They added to the /etc/system
file

set lwp_default_stksize=0x4000

and, all that it's worth, uname -a gives

SunOS odyssey 5.6 Generic_105181-14 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-Enterprise.

If anyone wants to know what patches have been applied, and knows the right
questions/pkginfo commands for me to ask/type (I'm a DBA not a Solaris
systems engineer, Jim) then I'll do my best to be helpful.

Thanks,

-michael
