Joining Samba NT Domain and Passwords

I have successfully set up a Samba domain, ENT_DEV, which validates
its passwords against a password PDC named TOPDOG in the domain PAYCHEX.
I have encrypted passwords turned on.

Now I try to change the domain of my NT workstation from PAYCHEX to
ENT_DEV.
I get the following errors from that change attempt:

[1999/04/20 10:44:11, 0] smbd/reply.c:(395)
  session_trust_account: Trust account JSTEINER2$ only supported with
security = user
[1999/04/20 10:44:12, 0] smbd/reply.c:(395)
  session_trust_account: Trust account JSTEINER2$ only supported with
security = user
[1999/04/20 10:44:13, 0] smbd/reply.c:(395)
  session_trust_account: Trust account JSTEINER2$ only supported with
security = user

Do I need to set up a trust relationship between PAYCHEX and ENT_DEV
such that
PAYCHEX trusts ENT_DEV in order for this to work? Do I simply need to
set
up "smbpasswd" and use "security = user"?
