Encrypted passwords and Domain Workgroup

Two questions:

(1) Using encrypted passwords I cannot use a more than eight character
password. If the samba password is larger than eight characters when I try
to
connect from NT to the samba server it reports "invalid password". Eight
character passwords are fine, though.

(2) After upgrading from samba-1.9.18p8 to samba-1.9.18p10 the domain
workgroup no longer shows up under Microsoft Network Neighborhood.
