Problems with SAMBA and Excel and Winword Files

Hello to all,

I use SAMBA 1.9.18p10 on a DEC UNIX 4.0d Server.
My clients are Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0 Workstations.
Everytime when a Client tries to open a *.xls file on a share it gots an
error message
that the file cannot be opened.
An thats what happening in the logfile:

The user (pokorny) tries to connect to a share called "wwwdaten" which
is physically located on "/www/data/out":

this seems to be allright, than the user tries to open a file called
"etoto_93.xls"

does anyone know why dos_mode is returning "a" ?

fine ! So the file seems to be opend now

Whats happening now ? Why is the directory changed to "/usr/local/samba"
?
Why is the uid changed to root ?

a few lines later:

Has this something to do with the  dos_mode ? I am shure it a harddisk
not a floppy !

Why is SAMBA now trying "wwwdateN" as username ? Its the name of the
share !
