SSL and samba 2.0.0-alpha8

I was looking through the new samba alphas. I noticed the ssl support is the
SSL support just for password encryption or is for the entire session?

If it is for the entire session does this amount to a nice little VPN-type
package for samba? The SSLEAY.txt file in docs/ doesn't say what the REASON
is for SSL. It tells you how. Just not why.

I was wondering if anyone knew?
