samba failing to answer request shortly after startup

Thanks to Dan Muldoon, it works now.

I had to upgrade to samba-1.9.18.p7.

Let's sum up: don't trust any linux distribution! RedHat ships Hurricane with a buggy version of samba, and the new version isn't even available in the "updates" directory.
