We have Samba v1.9.18p3 running on a Solaris 2.6 box. I discovered
in the NMBD log file the following error messages:
-----start messages (snip)-----
find_domain_master_name_query_fail: Unable to find the Domain Master
Browser name PSCDEV1<1b> for the workgroup PSCDEV1. Unable to sync
browse lists in this workgroup. process_local_master_announce: Server
QA at IP 192.168.67.3 is announcing itself as a local master browser
for workgroup PSCDEV1 and we think we are master. Forcing election.
04/29/1998 14:48:37 ***** Samba name server APPS4 has stopped being
a local master browser for workgroup PSCDEV1 on subnet 192.168.66.100
*****
04/29/1998 14:49:01 ***** Samba name server APPS4 is now a local
master browser for workgroup PSCDEV1 on subnet 192.168.66.100 *****
-----end messages (snip)-----
The Samba server is set up to be the local master browser for the
subnet it is on and is authenticating with an NT 4.0 SP3 server which
is on another subnet. Users ARE able to connect to shares with no
problems. I am just concerned about these error messages.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening and what this
means?
Thanks in advance.
Here is a snipit of the SMB.CONF file:
