Max. # of shares?

Sorry if the answer to the following question is 
already included in the documentation but it certainly
did not catch my eyes...

What is the maximum number of shares that Samba
currently supports? 

We happen to have one old 1.9.16p11 and it seems to 
show only up to 189 different shares.
