password encryption w/ DUnix & Linux

Can anyone tell me if there is password encryption I can use with both
Digital Unix 4.0b???

I've had to turn of C2 Security on our Digital Unix boxes so that it would
support NIS to linux machines. 

What are my options to get password encryption?!
