Pathlength >255 Erro

Hi.

Why does Samba allow to create pathlength greater than 255 char on a 
LINUX 2.0.29 Maschine. I created pathlengt with 280 Char and more, 
and have a lot of trouble with that. Because the BackUp-Programm that 
I use (taper 6.8.3) does not handle this correct. All the Index-Files 
of BackUp-Programm get corrupted and so the BackUp is worthless.
