Questions on shared CD-ROM drive

Using Samba v1.9.18p3, I'm attempting to share a CD-ROM drive on my
Linux-based (RedHat v4.2) server. This attempt has raised a few question
that I hope someone can answer.

This is the current definition of the share:

[cdrom]
  comment = Shared CD-ROM
  path = /mnt/cdrom
  public = yes
  guest ok = yes
  browseable = yes
  writeable = no
  preserve case = yes
  short preserve case = yes

1. How to use the mounted CD's actual volume name? If I don't explicitly
give the share a volume name, client system see the name of the share as
the volume name. (For example, a CD with the volume name "QUAKE2" shared
with the name "cdrom" will appear to have the volume name of "cdrom".)

2. Is there a way to conditionally make a share browseable? Ideally, I
would like to have the shared CD-ROM drive only be visible to client
machines if there is actually a CD in the drive.

Thank you.
