SAMBA has the compile time parameter to control access in user level
security (without extenal password server). The possibilities are:
- user must be fully validated (be valid UNIX user)
- UNIX users must supply valid passwords; unkown users are logged in
as guests
- any user is logged as guest if it cannot be validated
In your case I would recommend recompiling with GUEST_SESSSETUP=1 (second
choice). I don't like share level security for myself ...
BUT: I strongly believe, that this parameter must be run time settable for
each share. Currently, it leads to incompatible SAMBA servers and what
worse, it doesn't allow fine tuning of access permissions. (Yes, there is
valid users & co but to make it work, I have to first allow acces to
anyone, albeit as guest. I don't like it either)
